One of the most common issue with mobile devices nowadays is the dreaded spider crack running across your display. Cracked glass poking your fingertips while you swipe along your digitizer is never fun. Touch issues when swiping, scrolling, or typing is a huge inconvenience. Also, the annoying lines that appear when your LCD is damaged may force you to go into portrait mode and change orientation on the display just to see that tiny area that is just so hard to make out behind the colorful lines that are blocking the content you are trying to read on your screen.
How to fix a cracked screen on your mobile device ?
Well, there are many different factors that come with this type of repair.
One of the several instances of a cracked screen can include speakers not working properly, LCD dimming as well as rainbow looking lines appearing on your display, proximity sensors not working, or even your Face ID function or home button not wanting work, and of course the touch function of your display could be ghost typing and pressing areas on the screen typing, scrolling, and opening browsers without you even touching it! Now that is a scary situation.
Most mobile phone displays with a cracked screen are replaced as a whole lcd assembly. This means the entire panel compiled of the glass, touch digitizer film just beneath the glass, and the lcd itself. These particular components are fused together along with a mid frame or anchoring brackets that attach the entire display to your device. These are generally replaced as whole. So even if your lcd has no lines in it, but the glass is cracked, a whole new assembly is required for replacement.
iPad, tablet, and laptop cracked screens, though, are very similar to cellphone cracked screens, although some models have separate components in which the glass and the lcd are not fused together as an assembly, but rather separated as individual parts, which can be replaced separately and as needed. iPad, tablet, and computer cracked displays have naturally larger components, bigger lcd panels, and larger surface area of glass. Replacing the models that require lcd assembly replacements can be a bit more tricky if the frame of your device is warped, bent, or dented. Having a nice and straight frame on your device without any bends ensures the display lays completely flush on the side panels of the frame, ensuring long lasting repairs that do not compromise the integrity of the LCD and touch panel.
Lastly, the small parts that are attached to your cracked screen may be compromised due to the cracked screen on your device. Ear speakers, as well as front facing cameras, proximity sensors, Face ID modules, and home buttons can all be not working properly due to your cracked screen. Removing these from a broken display can be rather tricky. Especially if the glass from your broken display is attached to the modules themselves. Transferring these components to your new display needs to be done meticulously to ensure not damaging them when transferring. Sometimes cracked screen damage can be so severe that the actual components attached to the cracked screen may be already broken.
Applying screen protectors as well as protective cases are the best way to avoid any serious damage to your cellphone or mobile device display. Of course, not dropping the devices is the major one. Even techs are guilty of having butterfingers here and there. It happens to everyone.
